I think this was one of the best speeches ever made concerning race and class divisions in the United States.

This whole thing is a joke.

Hear me, even though I live abroad and am not an American. :-) But as the poll is relatively open. Obama has had to prove himself many times already. No one has cut him much slack despite the myths. Right, he is a newcomer and had to be scrutinized, but it's just a little too painful a process. Good luck.

If Obama does not become the Democratic nominee for president, it won't be because of his lack of experience...it will be due to the immaturity of the American people. A voter in Tampa, FL

Obama has effectively responded to the narrow-minded, shrill, ranting, rightwing nut jobs that infest the air-waves in our country. God save America from these cretinous yahoos!

Obama: Right on.

It was a great speech. He addresses a lot of real issues this country needs to face and work on. That more than any of the other candidates has done.

This man is so presidential. In the way it ought to be, not the way it usually is.

I haven’t heard these thoughts stated yet so I thought this might be something worthy of consideration. The opportunity that lies within the Reverend Wright story, as I see it, is that it potentially quashes the Democratic side of the 2008 election equation altogether. If one were to support Obama, they risk being labeled an unpatriotic racist. If one supports Clinton, then they are a racist that supports the suppression of minorities and are supporters of the “perceived” status quo. A vote for either Democratic candidate further serves to divide rather than unite the country. In a world where political correctness is the “call of the day”, voters will make the only remaining safe (non-controversial) choice which is, of course, John McCain.

if obama didn't catch on that rev wright was a racist after 20 years how can we expect him to understand what's up in the white house?
